1. Practices and Games:
Rain: If the fields are open, Practices and games can proceed during rain unless it significantly affects visibility or field conditions.
Lightning: If lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius, all activities will be immediately suspended. Participants should seek shelter in a safe location and wait for at least 30 minutes after the last lightning strike before resuming activities.
Thunderstorms: In the event of a thunderstorm, practices and games will be postponed or canceled. Coaches and officials will monitor weather updates and communicate any changes promptly.
2. Field Closures:
Excessive Rainfall: Fields will be closed by the Jackson County Recreation Department or East Central Soccer Club if excessive rainfall makes the fields unsafe or unplayable. Notifications will be sent out as soon as possible.
Field Inspections: Regular inspections will be conducted to assess field conditions. If fields are deemed unsafe due to waterlogging, mud, or other hazards, they will be closed until conditions improve.
Weekday Practice Notification of Field Closures during heavy rain events will be sent out no later than 4pm that day. This will give the club adequate time to assess the field conditions for Practices.
Gameday Notifications will be sent out no later than 8am on Saturdays.
3. Communication:
Gameday Notifications will be sent out no later than 8am on Saturdays.
Notification System: All weather-related updates, including cancellations and field closures, will be communicated through the club’s official channels (e.g., GroupMe and Facebook).
Emergency Contacts: Coaches and team managers will have a list of emergency contacts for all players and will ensure parents are informed of any weather-related decisions.
4. Safety Protocols:
Shelter Locations: Designated shelter locations are located within the club's central pavilion.
First Aid: First aid kits and emergency supplies are available at the concession stand.
These guidelines aim to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants while providing clear procedures for handling various weather conditions.
